In which quel hopes she never has to stop being a dork for anyone

Happy Bastille Day my loves!



Monday my sister and I went to yoga for the first time in many many weeks. It didn't help that it was an uber intense class, and I couldn't do anything. And when I can't do anything I get pissed off, not motivated to try harder, so I came out of the class really angry. My sister is sore, but I'm not because I stopped trying halfway through.

Tuesday I lost my Taco Bell virginity and packed a little cooler full of water and carrots and hummus and grapes and we all set off, bikini-clad, to the beach!

...Not all of us were in bikinis. Just two of us. Boys didn't have bikinis on.

My sister was complaining about how she was white, so she put SPF 30 on her face and then only SPF 15 on the rest of her body. I put on SPF 45 everywhere, because I'm a skin cancer freak. I also wore a hat the whole time, and any time my entire body was exposed in the sun, I wrapped myself in a canga. Laugh all you want, I looked like a total weirdo. Here are all these ladies around me, lieing down and tanning half naked, and I wrapped myself up and put a bag over my head forming a little cocoon. I probably embarassed the HELL out of my company.

The first time I tested the water, I was wet for no more than three seconds when these two OLD NASTY THIRTY YEAR OLD MEN started making their way over and making fun of me for wearing a hat in the water. I tried to ignore them, and tried calling my brother over to come and protect me, but he was off floating somewhere (I swear one day he's going to freak a lifeguard out, he likes just sticking his head underwater and 'playing dead,' it's really creepy), so I leapt right out of the water again and ran back to everyone else.

Then later I went back in with Gene, and saw that my two old men were already hitting on two other women more their age. I was heartbroken, truly. *tear*

We stayed for something like 4 hours. I was in the water almost the entire time, probably only stepping out for about half an hour.

You'd think I'd taken enough safety measures for my skin. But I guess sunscreen DOES, eventually, wear off, and water only makes it go faster. My shoulders got slightly burned. What is this crap?! Only white people are supposed to burn! Oh well. It doesn't even look like a burn. I'm just sort of flushed looking. It's actually really nice, I wish I could look like this all the time. Preferably without the pain. Besides, I have it better than everyone else. They're all red and can't move.

On our walk back from the beach we stopped and got smoothies, then we went to Milam's and I bought a fun birthday card for Zach, which I never was able to give him anyway. ::yesssssss::

Upon our return home, we ate dinner and settled down for some Jon Stewart. Indecision 2004 is absolute BRILLIANCE.

Wednesday sucked major ass. Somehow or another I got annoyed in the morning and was put in a sad mood for the entire day, and I didn't want to do anything so I wasted my time away on the computer. I briefly tried practicing out of guilt, but only lasted 20 minutes.

Later in the evening, though, I watched Baseketball which cheered me up like you wouldn't believe, and then over dinner, we watched The Machinist. Christian Bale weighing 120 pounds--oh, real appetizing. The good news is, I didn't eat dessert that night! :o)
